Penny is a 3 year old petite boxer/lab mix weighing about 38 lbs.  She is a shy, timid girl looking for a quiet home with a confident, patient person that can build her trust.  She enjoys getting attention and being told what a ‘good girl’ she is.  Penny loves to run and requires a yard with a minimum 5 ft. fence.  Loud noises (thunder, fireworks, etc.) are stressful for her and she will run or hide anytime she is frightened.  Penny would do well as an only dog.  She can be easily overwhelmed in a group (no dog parks) and prefers to play with a submissive male dog about her size or larger. Bowie is a Beagle with some baggage. Cute as can be, this young adult Beagle has a lot of Beagle traits (the bay, the enthusiasm for long sniffing walks, the passion for food, and wily smarts) but came to us with some serious resource guarding issues. He went through behavior rehab and is doing wonderfully, but without an experienced dog owner will revert back. He used to guard food, items he thought were his, and his sleeping space, and would react with a bite. At this point, in foster care, he allows us to handle him all over, take food and treats away, and move him. He needs an experienced owner to continue boundaries, training, and kind firmness. We adore him, we have no issues right now (except with cats, he hates cats). Bowie is house trained, crated when alone, loves walks, would do best with a fenced outside area, and we are highly recommending continued training classes. Peach, formerly known as Diva, is the world&#039;s cuddliest little girl. She is a young adult female Chihuahua. Hati is a 2 year old medium/large mixed breed, likely Border Collie and Hound. This girls brings a lot to the table for adoption success. She is reliably house and kennel trained, likes walks, enjoys having a yard ( she wouldn&#039;t love a busy apartment complex), and is very intelligent. She likes kids, but is bouncy around them, so may knock them down inadvertently. Hati lives with a cat she really likes a lot, and also with other dogs. Her adopter is finding that while she is dog tolerant, she is not reading the cues of other dogs well, causing some tension in the home when she competes with the other female dog in the home for attention. No fighting, just being pushy about it. Hati is a little shy at first, likes to observe a new person before approaching, but once she bonds, she bonds really hard and well. Diesel is a young Border Collie/Sheltie/Australian Shepherd mix (best guess) who is searching for a family who is willing to help him reach his full potential. We expect Diesel to mature to around 30lbs based on his current size. He is food/toy/treat motivated and is eager to learn. He has a relatively high drive when it comes to play, and could play fetch for hours if he could, and always has a toy in his mouth. He is always on the go, and always looking for his next adventure. Diesel needs a home who is specifically looking for an active, high energy dog to train and someone who understands and has previous experience with everything a high energy herding breed comes with (mental and physical stimulation are very important). Diesel is housebroken and crate trained, and is fostered with other dogs, cats, and kids and loves everyone. He is a little nervous meeting new people when in new situations, but once he feels comfortable, he is ready to rock. Diesel does need a home with a physically fenced in yard, he is not the kind of dog who would do well on a tie out/leashed, and he is a runner if he gets loose. A secure fence is important, as he will escape if possible. Another young, energetic dog in the home, as he spends a majority of his time actively playing and wrestling with the other dogs in his foster home. Diesel would do best in a busy home and he thrives being on the go, always. Someone who is up for a training a high energy dog and has experience doing so. He also loves to swim. Louisa is a middle aged, mid sized mystery mutt who has been in foster for a year now. She came in with her puppies a year ago, and they all went to new adventures. Louisa is waiting her turn, and needs a special family with dog experience to find her. She is reliably house trained, crates very well for the workday, listens well and respects/responds to limits and boundaries. She enjoys the company of most dogs, although one senior female at her foster she is overly bossy with. She is good with cats. Louisa would thrive in an adult home who can manage her with men. She was previously very abused by a man, which is why she was taken away, and it takes her awhile to warm up to new guys, but she does and then loves them. However, on walks, with company coming over, etc she is not trusted with men she doesn&#039;t know. If you can manage that one part, she is otherwise very enjoyable to live with and love. Scarlett is a sweet, polite, and quiet girl who takes her time warming up to new people, especially men. She thrives with patience, gentleness, and a calm environment. Once she feels safe and gets to know her people, she becomes silly, incredibly loyal, and eager to please.
She’s accustomed to living with other dogs and would enjoy the companionship of a confident, medium-sized dog to play with. She can be a bit exuberant around smaller dogs, so a well-matched companion is ideal. She would also be ok as an only dog with people who are home often. She is now kennel trained, potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car. She sleeps quietly through the night.
Scarlett would do best in a low-traffic home with few visitors. She is not compatible with cats and is not suited for homes with young children. Atticus is a middle aged to senior mixed breed, about 45 pounds, who has a tough past but he sure doesn&#039;t show it. Atticus came from Mexico and was badly hurt, left to heal on his own. He had a broken pelvis and broken leg that healed on it&#039;s own. He is pain free, but sometimes moves a little funny as the bones healed together at different lengths.  Maybe that&#039;s why he enjoys a soft bed and a warm loving home so very much. He is always happy. He loves to chase the squirrels and enjoys watching the birds at the bird feeder.  He doesn’t bark or growl at the birds, he just sits on the couch and watches them like it&#039;s dog TV. He likes to lay on the couch and will cuddle with you if you invite him. He loves to sleep in bed with his fosters as well, no matter how little space there is- there is always space for him, in his opinion. Atticus is a smart dog who responds very well to training. Meet Mandarin. Terrible picture, and we are doing the best we can. He has since moved into an extra large dog kennel inside the house. Mandarin was a local stray who was trapped and vetted, and while we intended to vet him and put him back, he&#039;s too sweet. He is 9 months old, gets along with every cat he meets ( including cuddling baby kittens), never hisses or scratches, but is terrified of people. He hides every chance he can, and wants nothing to do with us yet. However, we were able to vaccinate and chip him, pick him up and move him, without any acting out. He is by all rights a feral cat who needs a super patient, calm, cat savvy person to welcome him into their lives. He uses the box reliably. Sourpuss is a grumpy tiny little cat who is angry at how her life turned out so far. We first saw her crammed into a carrier with multiple kittens being given away to anyone who would take them, and later discovered dumped outside an area apartment building after they couldn&#039;t give them all away. She and her tiny kittens were rescued, but she is NOT used to the chaos and noise of rescue. She&#039;s a tiny little cat, about 6 pounds, tiger with beautiful big white patches. She is spayed and vaccinated and healthy and ready for a quiet home. Sourpuss is tolerant of the other cats, hates the dogs, hides when kids come over, and we had to wait for pets until it was on her terms. She politely keeps her claws sheathed when she swipes, and has stopped swiping us and grudgingly enjoys the pets, but in this busy environment she is unhappy and craving a calm, quiet home who will give her a little space and let her love them as she settles. Rigby is a neutered male  9 year old Hound/Bully mix who is a laid back mellow fellow, happy to lounge around and be your companion. He is dog friendly although after being attacked on a walk by an unleashed dog, he does prefer meeting dogs off leash. Rigby is house trained, not a chewer, doesn&#039;t bark often. He is seeking a calm adult home. A toddler grandson has moved into his current home and he really prefers to not interact with kids if possible. Digby is a clown- as evidenced by trying to get his photo. We have no idea his mix.... he&#039;s 25-30 pounds, but has some legs on him. His ears go every direction, his eyes are always laughing, and he is an active and fun loving little dog. Digby loves kids, he makes friends with other dogs very easily, and he was fine with cats at the shelter. He LOVES going for walks and runs and playing in the yard with other dogs. Digby is doing very well with house training and crates when alone. He would be happiest in a home with someone wanting an active dog who makes them laugh. He sure is good natured. Mama Wren was a previously feral stray cat on the streets of Minneapolis, working to keep her babies alive. She&#039;s seen a lot and carries some baggage, and requires a very patient person to take her in. She avoids people still, prefers to watch from her cat tree, and is just starting to tolerate some touch, although does not like new people, nor being picked up. Scout is a very mellow, polite, well behaved senior Boxer mix seeking a calm home. He is incredibly patient with kids of all ages, does well with other dogs, and is reliably house trained. He is also trusted loose for the workday and chooses to nap the day away. He loves being on the couch, sunbathing in the yard, short walks and having his neck and jowls rubbed. Priscilla (white) and Merida (tabby) are a bonded pair of spayed sisters, seeking a home together. They play together, sleep together, eat together, and are bundles of playful silly fun. The sisters love toys, love tunnels, love sunbathing, and love attention and affection. They came to rescue when their mom was left behind in the home when owners moved out, leaving this family starving.
