Scarlett is a sweet, polite, and quiet girl who takes her time warming up to new people, especially men. She thrives with patience, gentleness, and a calm environment. Once she feels safe and gets to know her people, she becomes silly, incredibly loyal, and eager to please.
She’s accustomed to living with other dogs and would enjoy the companionship of a confident, medium-sized dog to play with. She can be a bit exuberant around smaller dogs, so a well-matched companion is ideal. She would also be ok as an only dog with people who are home often. Penny is a 3 year old petite boxer/lab mix weighing about 38 lbs.  She is a shy, timid girl looking for a quiet home with a confident, patient person that can build her trust.  She enjoys getting attention and being told what a ‘good girl’ she is.  Penny loves to run and requires a yard with a minimum 5 ft. fence.  Loud noises (thunder, fireworks, etc.) are stressful for her and she will run or hide anytime she is frightened.  Penny would do well as an only dog. Atticus is a middle aged to senior mixed breed, about 45 pounds, who has a tough past but he sure doesn&#039;t show it. Atticus came from Mexico and was badly hurt, left to heal on his own. He had a broken pelvis and broken leg that healed on it&#039;s own. He is pain free, but sometimes moves a little funny as the bones healed together at different lengths.  Maybe that&#039;s why he enjoys a soft bed and a warm loving home so very much. He is always happy. He loves to chase the squirrels and enjoys watching the birds at the bird feeder.  He doesn’t bark or growl at the birds, he just sits on the couch and watches them like it&#039;s dog TV. He likes to lay on the couch and will cuddle with you if you invite him. He loves to sleep in bed with his fosters as well, no matter how little space there is- there is always space for him, in his opinion. Atticus is a smart dog who responds very well to training. Diesel is a young Border Collie/Sheltie/Australian Shepherd mix (best guess) who is searching for a family who is willing to help him reach his full potential. We expect Diesel to mature to around 30lbs based on his current size. He is food/toy/treat motivated and is eager to learn. He has a relatively high drive when it comes to play, and could play fetch for hours if he could, and always has a toy in his mouth. He is always on the go, and always looking for his next adventure. Diesel needs a home who is specifically looking for an active, high energy dog to train and someone who understands and has previous experience with everything a high energy herding breed comes with (mental and physical stimulation are very important). Diesel is housebroken and crate trained, and is fostered with other dogs, cats, and kids and loves everyone. He is a little nervous meeting new people when in new situations, but once he feels comfortable, he is ready to rock. Diesel does need a home with a physically fenced in yard, he is not the kind of dog who would do well on a tie out/leashed, and he is a runner if he gets loose. A secure fence is important, as he will escape if possible. Another young, energetic dog in the home, as he spends a majority of his time actively playing and wrestling with the other dogs in his foster home. Hati is a 2 year old medium/large mixed breed, likely Border Collie and Hound. This girls brings a lot to the table for adoption success. She is reliably house and kennel trained, likes walks, enjoys having a yard ( she wouldn&#039;t love a busy apartment complex), and is very intelligent. She likes kids, but is bouncy around them, so may knock them down inadvertently. Hati lives with a cat she really likes a lot, and also with other dogs. Her adopter is finding that while she is dog tolerant, she is not reading the cues of other dogs well, causing some tension in the home when she competes with the other female dog in the home for attention. No fighting, just being pushy about it. Hati is a little shy at first, likes to observe a new person before approaching, but once she bonds, she bonds really hard and well. She would make a fantastic companion for a home wanting a single dog that is ok being with others out and about. She is playful and active and would love a home to bring her on hikes and walks. Sourpuss is a grumpy tiny little cat who is angry at how her life turned out so far. We first saw her crammed into a carrier with multiple kittens being given away to anyone who would take them, and later discovered dumped outside an area apartment building after they couldn&#039;t give them all away. She and her tiny kittens were rescued, but she is NOT used to the chaos and noise of rescue. She&#039;s a tiny little cat, about 6 pounds, tiger with beautiful big white patches. She is spayed and vaccinated and healthy and ready for a quiet home. Sourpuss is tolerant of the other cats, hates the dogs, hides when kids come over, and we had to wait for pets until it was on her terms. She politely keeps her claws sheathed when she swipes, and has stopped swiping us and grudgingly enjoys the pets, but in this busy environment she is unhappy and craving a calm, quiet home who will give her a little space and let her love them as she settles. Louisa is a middle aged, mid sized mystery mutt who has been in foster for a year now. She came in with her puppies a year ago, and they all went to new adventures. Louisa is waiting her turn, and needs a special family with dog experience to find her. She enjoys the company of most dogs, although one senior female at her foster she is overly bossy with. She is good with cats. Louisa would thrive in an adult home who can manage her with men. Meet Mandarin. Terrible picture, and we are doing the best we can. He has since moved into an extra large dog kennel inside the house. Mandarin was a local stray who was trapped and vetted, and while we intended to vet him and put him back, he&#039;s too sweet. He is 9 months old, gets along with every cat he meets ( including cuddling baby kittens), never hisses or scratches, but is terrified of people. He hides every chance he can, and wants nothing to do with us yet. However, we were able to vaccinate and chip him, pick him up and move him, without any acting out. He is by all rights a feral cat who needs a super patient, calm, cat savvy person to welcome him into their lives. He uses the box reliably. Bowie is a Beagle with some baggage. Cute as can be, this young adult Beagle has a lot of Beagle traits (the bay, the enthusiasm for long sniffing walks, the passion for food, and wily smarts) but came to us with some serious resource guarding issues. He went through behavior rehab and is doing wonderfully, but without an experienced dog owner will revert back. He used to guard food, items he thought were his, and his sleeping space, and would react with a bite. At this point, in foster care, he allows us to handle him all over, take food and treats away, and move him. He needs an experienced owner to continue boundaries, training, and kind firmness. We adore him, we have no issues right now (except with cats, he hates cats). Bowie is house trained, crated when alone, loves walks, would do best with a fenced outside area, and we are highly recommending continued training classes. Digby is a clown- as evidenced by trying to get his photo. We have no idea his mix.... he&#039;s 25-30 pounds, but has some legs on him. His ears go every direction, his eyes are always laughing, and he is an active and fun loving little dog. Stewie is a 6-9 month old Jack Russell Terrier/Doxie mix, a little livewire with a very happy attitude who is desperately hoping for a new home with a fenced yard and another playful dog, or someone who runs daily and can take him, and someone to work his sharp little brain also. He would thrive with agility or obedience. Stewie is very much a puppy still, working on house training and is crate trained for the workday and overnight. He lives with cats and enjoys a half hearted chase if they run, but it&#039;s all in love. Stewie has a lot of experience with small kids also. Rozz is a 4 year old, 65 pound female Retriever/Collie type mix.  This gentle girl is very laid back and easygoing. She does well with dogs, cats and kids, although her kid experience has been visiting and not living with. Rozz is doing well with house training, crates when alone, and loves walks. Gabby is an adult female Lab/Border Collie ( best guess), a big black mixed breed who sat at the shelter for way too many months waiting to be noticed. Luckily someone said yes to fostering, and they are bringing out all of her charms. Gabby is exceptionally snuggly and affectionate, she loves to think she is a lapdog and curl up with you. Gabby is also dog and cat friendly, although her main focus is always people. She loves walks, does very well crated for the workday, and loves to show you affection by nibbling on your hands and crawling into your lap. Gabby is house trained and kennel trained. She is a little needy due to her insecurity after the shelter, so needs an adopter willing to build confidence with walks, training classes, and a commitment to being her forever. Are you looking for a cat who is positive he is a dog, trapped in a cat&#039;s body? Dopey and fearless and wants attention ALL the time? Opie is an adult neutered male kitty seeking a home with someone who wants a cat to shower with love. He is ready for pets all the time, loves kids and dogs and cats, uses the box. Opie does shed quite a bit so needs a home to try a higher quality diet and brushing and most likely just tolerating a lot of cat hair. You will wear it all over as he tries to melt into your body every time you sit down. Opie has been much loved but is escaping out the door of his owner who had a stoke and does not have the balance to keep him inside, and we know his trusting nature will get him killed outside.
