About Lukey

Please read before applying: Lukey MUST have a physically fenced yard AND another young, active dog in his forever home. He would also do best with someone who is home more often than not. Meet Lukey! Lukey is (just turned) 1 year old Australian Shepherd mix, possibly with Border Collie or English Shepherd. He is neutered, housebroken, crate trained, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids. Lukey is a sweet, sensitive boy who can be shy and still gets scared or spooked by unfamiliar sights, sounds, and situations. He needs a patient family who will give him time to build confidence and never rush him when he's unsure. Once Lukey chooses his person, though, he is incredibly loyal and deeply attached. He wants to be by your side, be part of everything you do, and shower you with love. He would love a family who will allow him to sleep in bed with them, and be their constant companion. Another young, active dog is a MUST because Lukey gains confidence from canine companionship and loves having a furry friend to play with and follow. He bonds heavily with other dogs and spends as much time playing, running, wrestling, and cuddling with them as possible. A physically fenced yard is also REQUIRED to keep him safe when something startles him. An invisible/GPS fence is not an option for him. Lukey is energetic and playful and will thrive with an active family who understands herding breeds. He's still young and working through the typical adolescent puppy phase, but someday we'd love to see him earn the trust to have free run of the house when alone. Lukey may need a little extra time to trust, but once he gives you his heart, he gives it completely. He just needs someone willing to be patient enough to earn it.
