About Frankie

Frankie is one of the most unique dogs we have ever seen. Most of us adore her weird ears and her underbite that shows those cute teeth, and others think she is funny looking. It doesn't help that in the picture she is laser focused on the treat so her eyes look rounder than normal. Frankie was adopted out by us as a Beagle mix as a puppy, and returned to us because her DNA showed breeds with traits very different than the Beagle the family was used to. Her primary breed is Doberman with some Boxer and Bulldog mixed in there. Frankie is full grown at 35 pounds. She is well house trained and crate trained for the day. Frankie enjoys the other dogs in her foster home VERY much and would do well in a home with a confident dog. She chased the cats at first in her foster home but learned quickly that was not allowed and stopped. Frankie became protective of her prior home and was chasing walkers on the path of her yard to scare them away, and barking when people came into the home. Her family worked very, very hard with trainers and exercise and patience and love and realized she is happier in a home with a fenced yard NOT along a walking path and/or some land. She liked the kids she lived with, but less so their visiting friends. Her ideal home is an adult or older child home with a yard, someone who is experienced with dogs who can be protective of their yard, and someone active- she misses her 3 mile a day walks she got in the past home. She will do anything for a treat and is actually a pretty soft and sensitive dog regarding training-- she WANTS to please, and doesn't need harsh corrections, just clear expectations. We think in the right home she's going to be perfect. She is very easy for us to live with and love. No apartments, no home right alongside a walking path, and likely no cats unless you can put the boundaries down. Please do the application at https://www.homewardboundrescue.com/application/dog
