About Xena

Meet Xena (formerly Yelena)! This graceful looking 10-month-old Belgian Malinois mix is a bright, high-energy sweetheart who is ready to find her forever pack. She’ll be celebrating her 1st birthday on January 20th, and she’s already made incredible strides in her foster home!Xena is a smart, athletic girl who thrives on structure and activity. She is fully housebroken and kennel trained. She currently lives with cats and does well with them—though if they take off running, she might give a playful chase. She has also done fantastic work with her foster mom on resource guarding and gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. Due to being Xena a Belgian Malinois mix, she possesses the classic drive, focus, and energy of the breed. She isn't a couch potato, but once she gets her physical and mental workout in, she settles down wonderfully inside the house. To ensure Xena sets off on the right paw, her ideal adopter must meet the following criteria: Prior Dog Experience: Experience with high-drive, working, or Herding breeds is highly preferred. Homeowners Only: Must own your home with a secure, fenced yard. Daily Engagement: A commitment to getting her out every single day for structured activity—whether that’s training sessions, long hikes/walks, or fun car rides to burn off energy. Ongoing Training: A commitment to continuing her training journey to keep her smart mind sharp and engaged. If you’re an active dog lover looking for a loyal, intelligent, and fun-loving partner to join your daily adventures, Xena might just be your perfect match- Apply to meet her today at https://www.homewardboundrescue.com/application/dog
