About Tig

Tig is a handsome adult French Bulldog (estimated 23 years old) who came to our rescue as a stray and is now ready to find the forever family he deserves. Tig is everything people love about the breedfriendly, social, and full of personality. He loves everyone he meets, including children, cats, and other dogs. He has some basic obedience training, knows several commands, rides wonderfully in the car, and is both potty trained and crate trained (though he has proven himself trustworthy enough that he rarely needs a crate). He is not much of a barker, aside from occasionally voicing his opinion when first crated. Since arriving in rescue, Tig has received extensive veterinary care to address several medical issues that were present when he was found. He underwent surgery to repair severe bilateral cherry eye, treatment for a corneal ulcer, and BOAS surgery (stenotic nares correction) to significantly improve his breathing and quality of life. He has also been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, and thoroughly evaluated by our veterinary team. His eye ulcer is healing well with medicated drops, and he continues to recover beautifully from his recent procedures. As with all French Bulldogs, future adopters should understand the breed's unique health considerations. Cherry eye can occasionally recur even after surgical correction, and Frenchies can be prone to allergies, breathing issues, and heat sensitivity. While Tig currently shows no signs of allergies, we would love to see him placed with adopters who are familiar with the breed and committed to providing the specialized care brachycephalic dogs may require throughout their lives. Tig is a happy, outgoing companion who loves being involved in family activities and spending time with his people. He would thrive in a home that includes him as part of the family while understanding that French Bulldogs must be carefully monitored in warm weather. A securely fenced yard is preferred, as Tig has a history of wandering if given the opportunity. The only less-than-perfect habit we've observed is that Tig can be a bit of a humper with other dogs. He was recently neutered, and we are hopeful that this behavior will diminish as his hormones settle. Otherwise, he has been a wonderful houseguest and gets along well with the other animals in his foster home. A veterinary reference and home check will be required for prospective adopters. Tig's adoption fee is $1,200. While higher than our standard adoption fee, it reflects only a portion of the significant medical investment made to give him the healthy future he deserves. His adoption fee helps offset the cost of his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing, microchip, bilateral cherry eye repair, BOAS surgery, medications, and ongoing veterinary care. It also helps us continue saving and treating other medically needy dogs currently in rescue. If you're looking for a loving, well-socialized French Bulldog who has already received extensive veterinary care and a fresh start in life, Tig may be the perfect match.
