Cats for Adoption

CAT ADOPTIONS: In addition to our Saturday pet adoptions, we will have special cat adoptions from time to time. Email Amber at aclose21@hotmail.com with questions.
Every week we have a wide variety of dogs/puppies and cats/kittens up for adoption. Most Homeward Bound cats over the age of 6 months have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and feline leukemia tested. Many are front declawed as well. Kittens are up to date on their age appropriate shots and have been deowmred but do need to be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract. They must be neutered/spayed by 6 months of age. Our pet adoptions are held every Saturday from 11:30 - 4 but we do also sometimes have Sunday mini cat adoptions. If there is a cat/kitten that peaks your interest, we recommend that you arrive early at our pet adoptions since cannot place "holds" on our animals. If you would like to inquire about our animals (besides coming to our pet adoption) please email us. Please keep in mind that we are volunteers and have families and jobs but we will respond to your email as quickly as possible. We don't have time to talk to people on the phone — sorry. All HB cats/kittens, unless otherwise noted, must live indoors only.

CATS & KITTENS IN OUR PROGRAM:
Name: Gary
Description: (To be sung to the song "Gary, Indiana" that is featured in The Music Man musical) Gary, the Kitty! / What a wonderful name..../ There is just one kitty, / That can light your face./ Gary, the Kitty / Gary, the Kitty / Not Mittens, Murphy, Mitsy, or Miffy, but-- / Gary, the Kitty, / Gary, the Kitty, / Gary, the Kitty, / Your cute sweet kitty!... Well, you get the picture! Gary the cat is a social kitty who was born to be a star. Gary loves to be the center of attention and likes to serenade his foster family with songs or profound thoughts - too bad we can't understand kitty-talk, but we are sure whatever he says is quite impressive. He loves everyone, including kids, cats, and dogs. His is an adult with a handsome orange coat. He has been neutered and is current on his shots. For obvious reasons, he MUST live indoors only. You can email k9randr@localnet.com with questions or pre-adoption questionnaire information. This kitty is courtesy posted for a new rescue we are helping to start up.

Name: Luka
Description: Hi, my name is Luka (like the song), but most people affectionately call me "The Fatty." I can't imagine why. I am about three years old, but I've had quite a life already! I was adopted when I was just a kitten by a boy who was soon sent to Iraq. When he left, I weighed two pounds, and when he returned, I weighed 25!! (I think the weight looks good on me, but vets tend to disagree.) I have lived with friends of my original owner since I was little, but they are very busy now and can't quite find the time to play with me as much as I'd like. My owner is having some health problems, so he doesn't have time and doesn't have enough money for me. Recently I had a big scare: I developed urinary crystals and was near death. None of my people had the money to save me, but at the eleventh hour my guardian angel stepped in and handed over a credit card. I am far too cute and friendly to let a little thing like money come between me and a wonderful life with a new family! Let me tell you a little about "A Day in the Life of Luka." I love people-all people. I will greet you at the door and then flop over onto my back, exposing my soft, furry belly for rubbing. I like to spend my day on the couch or on the kitchen table, and if you open up a book or a newspaper I will read it with you. (I define "read" as covering up the words that you're reading by laying directly on them.) I like to eat, but because of my weight problem and my recent health scare, I must be on a strict diet of special food for my urinary health. I have a luxurious coat of fur, as you can see from my photo shoot, and I do appreciate help with keeping it from getting tangled-so you can brush me, because I like that! I have lived with another cat all of my life, and I do like other animals around, if you have them. If not, it's no big deal, because mostly I prefer the attention of people. Everyone who meets me thinks I'm wonderful, and I'd really like to be a part of a family with whom I can stay forever, and who will love me and take care of me each day. Are you my new family? Love, Luka. P.S. You may email erin_elisa_ward@hotmail.com for more information about me! I do not attend pet adoptions. For obvious reasons, all animals adopted from Homeward Bound MUST live live indoors.

Name: Melia
Description: Black kitties are just the best! We think so anyway - their coats are so glossy and shiny. Melia is proud of her long coat and likes how it glimmers in the sun! Melia is good with kids and other cats. She is shy with strangers at first (especially at pet adoptions) but in a home setting she warms up quickly to people. She is a young adult. She has been spayed and current on her shots. You may email Amber at aclose21@hotmail.com with questions. For obvious reasons, all animals adopted from Homeward Bound MUST live live indoors, no exceptions.

Name: Mittens
Description: Mittens is a pretty black and white young adult kitty who is very sweet and great with cats and other kids. Although initially shy with strangers (especially at pet adoptions), she warms up quickly and is quite cuddly and loving. She has been spayed and current on her shots. You may email Amber at aclose21@hotmail.com with questions. For obvious reasons, all animals adopted from Homeward Bound MUST live live indoors, no exceptions.

Name: Mya
Description: Senior kitty in desperate need of a retirement home to cherish her like she is used to! Mya is a lap-sitter and is crossing her paws that she gets adopted by someone who wants an affectionate, social kitty. She loves to be around people (adults) and likes being pet under her chin, head, and back. She also likes to curl up next to people on the chair or couch. She does not go on counters or table tops. Mya would be happiest as the only 'fur child' in the house so a home without dogs or cats would be best. She does OK with male cats, but would be just as happy by herself too. She is used to a quiet, adult home without kids. She is very good about not shredding anything with her claws and of course has tidy bathroom habits. Mya does not attend pet adoptions. For obvious reasons, all animals adopted from Homeward Bound MUST live live indoors, no exceptions. You may email Katie at kadams4545@hotmail.com with questions.

Name: Zelda
Description: Zelda is the perfect example of how much a loving foster home can make a difference to a cat (or dog, for that matter!). When Zelda first came into rescue she was painfully shy around people and other animals. Now fast forward a few months... Zelda absolutely LOVES people and is quite the affectionate kitty! She is very much a velcro kitty and always wants to be by your side. She's fostered with kids and loves them too. Zelda is fostered with other cats and does fine with them. She's still not too sure about dogs, but is used to them. She will give a hiss if she thinks they are too rough with her, but that is quite understandable. She is litterbox trained and loves being indoors. She thinks cat toys are fun and hunts the house for sun beams so she can take a nap in one. She is about a year old. Zelda does not attend all pet adoptions, so be sure to email k9randr@localnet.com if you'd like to see her or have any questions. For obvious reasons, she MUST live live indoors. Zelda is courtesy posted for a rescue we are helping out with.
